A Busy Productive Time

Students have completed their tree inquiry research work and presented these to the class.
Sana and Mahek researched the Totara tree. Justin and Ratu studied the Pohutukawa tree.

Andy and Alexandra worked independently on their research and the class had loads of questions and learnt from their presentations.

Obsaa and Mohamad worked effectively together to gather information on the Ponga fern.

Amber and Mahnoor created a power point together and presented this to the class.

Mei and Florence created an interesting booklet on the tree they studied. The class now knows lots of interesting information about native New Zealand trees.

The Shoots and Root Systems of Plants

Mrs Parrot is sharing out the plants.

Honesemo, Agnes and Manaia are busy learning  about this plant.

Mahnoor and Seolina show off a plant.
Florence and Amber check out the roots of this plant.

Working together and collaborating in small groups, helps everyone to learn.

Jazmine and Mei are enjoying the work they are doing while these boys are busy too.

Careful observation is needed during science activities.

Recording information and collecting data is an important aspect of science work.

Speech Competition and Tri-Star Gym

In week six the New Windsor School Speech Competition took place. Students from Room 27 wrote and presented their speeches in class, prior to this and then two were chosen for the school competition. Seolina and Florence were the Room 27 representatives who took place in this.
Florence wrote her speech on 'The Brain' and Seolina's speech was on 'Endangered Animals'.
Both girls presented their speeches clearly and confidently.
Congratulations to them on reaching the school finals.

In Week 8 Room 27 went with Room 25 to Tri-Star Gym. Wow! What a wonderful time they all had.

A big thank you to all those people involved in organizing this trip and to the staff at Tri- Star Gym for making it all worthwhile. The children had an awesome time.
