Speech Competition and Tri-Star Gym

In week six the New Windsor School Speech Competition took place. Students from Room 27 wrote and presented their speeches in class, prior to this and then two were chosen for the school competition. Seolina and Florence were the Room 27 representatives who took place in this.
Florence wrote her speech on 'The Brain' and Seolina's speech was on 'Endangered Animals'.
Both girls presented their speeches clearly and confidently.
Congratulations to them on reaching the school finals.

In Week 8 Room 27 went with Room 25 to Tri-Star Gym. Wow! What a wonderful time they all had.

A big thank you to all those people involved in organizing this trip and to the staff at Tri- Star Gym for making it all worthwhile. The children had an awesome time.

New Windsor's Got Talent

Several students from Room 27 auditioned and were successful participants in the 'New Windsor's Got Talent' show.

Honesemo was a solo artist, singing in the show and he won his category.

Amber played the piano beautifully.

Mei and Seolina performed an outstanding gymnastic and uni-cycle routine.

Florence performed an awesome gymnastic performance.

L'Amayz, Justin and Dorian (from Room 25) worked together on a basketball layout routine, which the crowd loved and they won their category.

Congratulations to each and everyone of them for giving it a go! Ka Mau Te Wehi!

Playing the Drums and Ukulele

Music was the performing arts topic this term and the children had the opportunity to play a variety of drums. Thanks goes out to Mr Cadelis our student teacher who provided the drums. The noise was stupendous and could be heard in many parts of the school.

Learning about the Ukulele was another interesting topic for the class. They sketched and named the parts of the instrument and then they had turns at strumming and learning a couple of basic chords.

Olympic Parade

The country Room 27 selected for the Olympics was Japan. After learning a little bit about the country, the children got busy and created their own small flags, headbands, armbands and fans to use in the Olympic parade. It was a lot of fun watching the classes representing various countries and parading around the courtyard to background music.

Book Week

During book week a number of things took place. The mystery face book cover competition was a bit of fun. See if you can guess who these people are.

The book parade was fantastic and children looked wonderful in their book character costumes. There were some very creative outfits worn on the day.
